Data Springs Modules Community Questions & Answers

Connect a Dynamic View and Form

I have a Dynamic View that displays a list of employees and I have form that records payments to employees. Currently, I have a drop box in the form, from which I select a particular employee and the value of the drop box is a unique employee ID. This unique ID is used to set defaults for other fields in the form. However, I need to get rid of the dropbox. For example, In the view page there is a list of employees and the name of each employee is hyperlinked to a detailed view of the employee. In the detail view I want a link that says make payment. This link should take me to the make a payment form where most of the employee's information is already filled out.

So my question is how can I create a hyperlink in the detail view of an employee to redirect the page to the form with the unique ID somehow passed into the form.

I know how to link the two pages but I don't know how to set a variable (unique ID) to a specific value as the form loads through the link.

Note: the payment page is not making an actual payment. It just records the payments to a table in the database.

  • So you would like to embed a dynamic hyperlink within your Dynamic Views Detail Template.

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to do this.

What version of Dynamic Views and DNN are you on?
