Data Springs Modules Community Questions & Answers

Open Detail Link in Separate Page - Dynamic Views

I have a dynamic Views module set up on a page that also has another module in the side panels. Each row of the dynamic module has a detail view link. But the detail link opens within in the same page and module.

How can I make the detail link open in a different page so that the detail view takes up the entire page instead of the just the module portion of the current page.

This answer has been selected by the question author as the best answer. Hello,

Thank you for your inquiry.

I would suggest that you use two Dynamic View instances.

1) The current Dynamic View.
2) New Dynamic View to handle a more details type of functionality.

So from the first Dynamic View you can dynamically construct a URL and plug this into your own custom made hyperlink. You would probably want to point to your other Dynamic View made to handle the more details as well as appending some Querystring variables to assist you in locating the record to show more details for.

This URL must be dynamic, so everything will probably be the same except the Querystring parameter which will represent a unique value(primary key, or unique column).

The more details Dynamic View can extract the Querystring variable value, place it in a search filter and conduct an auto search.

Here's an example dynamic URL that you may place into a hyperlink within your item template:

/MoreDetails.aspx?UNID=[unique_id]&AutoSearch=True

Be sure that the Querystring parameter NAME and the Search Filter Name match otherwise the mapping will not occur between querystring variable and search filter.

Please let us know if you have any questions.
