    Questions

I have a form I am building and most of what I want to do its doing. In my form the questions are response driven, so Q2's answer list is base on the response from Q1's answer. The tricky part, all the response options are queried from the database, so Q1’s response queries the database and produces Q2’s answer list and so on, this works great.

Here’s my issue, In some of the responses I need to have other field’s show up to be filled out, when I go to Question events, choose the

“Initiation / Postback Question:” from the list, I only have the option to use “Any Field Response”, I can’t select the value I want the response to show up on.

Is there or could there be a way I can type in the value or SQL for the “Initiation Response ”, so I can have it show only when that field response is selected.

Also My first form question (which is not db/query driven) did have an event response field that did work until I found I had to passed its response to the db to query responses to the second question, it not only doesn’t show the response event but it also stops the values from being passed to the db query.

Is there a work around for my question event

    issue.

    Thanks

    Anthony,

Hi. I can understand the issue, it actually should be binding the 'postback' field based on the SQL query - but since your query makes use of other fields tokens within the query it cannot accurately generate the list. So, the options are probably to setup the query to use a static variable when creating the question event. So, basically you could make it use a static SQL query and then specify the question event. Then go back into the question and change the query from static to use the tokens again. The other option would be to manually update the question event tables directly to set the value that should fire the event.

Ummm... for question 2. Are you basically trying to use values brought from the querystring into a SQL query to pull in the question options?

Yes, that is it exactly, and that works great. I’m guessing that because I’m asking the field to do multiple things that the answer is similar my previous questions answer.

    Chad,
Ok, I made the field static with two options (Member, Non-Member) and nothing in the “Client side event” box. Works ok, passes Member/Non-Member to the next field. Next I added a question event to the Member option to show a field to collect their membership ID. Now the form should show a new text box if the user selects “Member” and should also pass the selected “Member” option to the next field. No joy, No field, No Pass. Non-Member option selection passes the "Non-Member" value to the next field just fine.
