    Hello,

I scheduled 7000 mails to go out, 50 at a time every 10 minutes. It sent quite a few (I don't know how many) and then the scheduler started erroring on every task, so I disabled it.

So - are the mails still queued? How do I fix the errors and keep sending the newsletters?

The error on the scheduler history is:

Update - I tried to run this again (I think only about 400 or so of the 7k of emails went out judging by the bounce reports) and it is still erroring, so I have disabled it until further instruction

Hi Chad - any ideas on this? I'm in a suspended state - it's sent to 4500 of the 7000 users...

Hi. Well typically a few things that might happen...

    * I would temporarily make it more like every 20 minutes instead of 10. If for some reason (logging specifically) and the fact that the scheduler is running in the background, the process did not finish 50 within then it would start over and this wouldn't be a good suggestion. You are probably ok with 50 every 10 minutes, but I would always suggest a little more time.

    * Do you have a limit on the server you are on? Such as possibly 100 per hour or 500 per day or anything?

    * If you were to send a test email to one of the address's having problems does it go through successfully?

I goggled and researched the error '550 Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable or not local' but there were a variety of responses and threads related to it. I would also possibly contact your server or whomever your SMTP server is through and see if they have any suggestions on what your SMTP server returned.

As far as I know this is a limited error (there have been other SMTP errors in the forums) but as far as I know this is the only 550 that has been posted. So... You might also try another SMTP server to see if that helps.

    -Chad

Ok, I updated my install with the latest you sent me (note, I am not using the OptIn part of the module, only the Advanced Mailer).

I changed the Scheduler and restarted it - this is the part I am unclear about - I assume the other 3000 mails are still queued in a table to go out?

If I view the Scheduler history it immediately (run on start) shows 9 errors. If I view my Event Log it also shows 9 errors (see below).

This is the odd bit - I checked the Previous Mails and it shows that another 100 were sent (it was on 4500, now it's on 4600). This is odd as it is set to only send 50 maximum.

I can try and send it to 1 person but I am not sure if it is the same emails that are failing each time or if it is trying to send to a person and then failing and erasing them from the queue. When I tried to export some users I noticed strange characters in the some of the email addresses - perhaps this is causing the error and the majority are working but it's queuing up the errored ones and keep trying to send them on each cycle (this would explain why the errors started at 1 and are now on 9 - maybe there are 9 dodgy emails that are in the queue still)

ps - I will leave it running - I think more mails will be sent and the errors will keep occurring as it tries to resend. What table should I query to see if I can spot the emails causing the issue?

Sorry - regarding the 100 increment - it was on 4550 and it went to 4600 so that is ok. I am going to let it run - I think it is sending correctly but just not removing the bad entries each time.

When you say 'bad entries' do you mean bounce backs? The next release will support bouncebacks however the current release will not remove bouncebacks from the database. Actually the next release will give you a report of them and actually let you first review it before removing them.

No, I meant the possible 9 emails causing the 550 error repeatedly. Is there a table of recipients that I can query - perhaps I can spot a problem.

Next time... I would enable logging for very detailed logs, this should then show you the exact email address its sending them to and when is sends it out you can see if it fails. You can then review the logs under Host, Scheduler, History so you can see which emails are causing the problem.
