Hi Everybody,

I was wondering if it is possible to change the expiry date in the real estate module.  It appears to be defaulting to 3 months but I would like to know if this is configurable and if so where do I need to go to change the date.

Thanks!

Mark

Mark,

Hi. Right now there is currently no way to modify the expiry date without changing the source code (specifically the file AddListing.ascx.vb where you see "mController.InsertListing....." etc... A few of these features were rolled out as requests for v2.0 but we are currently working on an updated release of v2.1 that will allow the administrator to modify more of these controls and features. Since we are actually in development on this release feel free to send over any suggestions for updated enhancements. A few we have on the list are:

* Ability to allow real estate listings to be 'Featured' which can be used as a flag in a default search or on a seperate module instance etc... These features listings can appear before other listings as well.

* Ability to hide the 'Add Listing', ' Maintain Listings' directly on the user-facing page or setup specific security roles for who can view those. Right now its tied to just Registered users and more functionality should allow the administrator to specify a role for who can add listings.

* Ability to customize email messages distributed within the module. Right now the administrator can specify messages that get displayed to the user on the portal itself but not actually the emails that get sent notifying them that their listing was added (this code is actually in the same page as the expired date).

* Ability to show/hide specific fields within the listing grid

That's whats on the list so far, the full release of 2.1 should be ready by the end of August.

Any word on version 2.1? This list looks like valuable features.

Ted,

Hi. We ran into a few issues during development here for v2.1. We are currently looking for around the end of October. Specifically many areas of the module were not localized correctly and there were some issues with child portals and showing images/templated listings etc... These issues have now all been fixed but the enhancements are just now beginning development. We do have many users awaiting these enhancements so its high on the list.

Thanks for the update Chad,

Since you haven't implemented the new features yet how about an addition to the list?

One thing we were looking at is allowing for more than 8 pictures on a listing.  This would be our ideal implementation:

1) allow as many pictures as the user wants (you might have to revamp the table in the DB to put the images in its own table).

2) Provide a setting for the # of thumbnails to show on each listing.

3) Those listings with more than the set # of thumbnails would have a "more pictures" link.

4) The "more pictures" link would bring up a complete page of pictures, photo gallery style allowing the user to puruse all the pictures available.  Of course there would need to be a "back to listing" link on this page.

I don't mean to design this but our first real estate customer already asked for more than 8 pictures and we  were brainstorming on how to make this work well and look good as well.
