Hi,
While the user is entering the information can I set the value of a field control from the value of another control splitting the first characters before the first space?

Example using JavaScript:

  (this works fine)

How can I save FirstName into another control ?
Doesn't have to be JavaScript as this may not work anyway, any method of achieving this is would be great.

(Remember example only, I already know there is FirstName and Lastname in DR module, I want to split the text for other reasons)

Hi. I don't think your Javascript example made it into the thread... Ummm.... You will be able to use more Javascript within the next release (similar to the Dynamic Forms Client Side Events feature) but in your case you might have to use a SQL Completion event (if it can be done after submission?). This way the SQL Event could actually parse the field tokens and then update the database.

Something like this....
Exec sp_setupfieldslikeIwantthem '$(FName)', '$(LName)', '$(UserID)'

Then within the stored procedure you could execute SQL to concatenate or split any of the characters up and finally update the DNN profile field...

Something like:
Update UserProfile
Set PropertyValue = @YourNewConcatenatedField
Where PropertyDefinitionID = 55
and UserID = @UserID

This is assuming you created a parameter called @YourNewConcatenatedField and you called the parameter @UserID within the stored procedure... Also this is assuming the property definitionID for the field you want to update has a property definitionID of 55.
