I am trying to use the localization features of Dynamic Registration.  I have installed the language pack for Chinese.  When setting the default locale, I see both english and chinese in the drop down.  However, when attempt to localize the questions, Chinese is missing from the list of target languages (only english is in the list).

I am running on the latest DNN and a newly (minutes ago) downloaded (and amazingly quickly configured) Dynamic Registration module.  I have been able to localize core DNN modules no problem.

Thanks in advance

Ok the work around for this is to set the default language of the SITE to English (should not work like that but it does)

Now to the next problem -- when I enter localized labels for the target localization language and update, they don't stick. no error message comes back, no error page, nothing in the error log, just doesn't seem to do what it should.

Help?

Hi. What version of Dynamic Registration are you running on and what version of DotNetNuke?

Localization should only be setup for all non-default languages. This is because you just setup questions and registration form properties (Such as header, footer, email messages) within the main areas of the configuration for the standard language. The localization should then only be visible to be configured for the non default language as it will use the standard configuration for the default langauge.

DNN version:  04.08.01

Dynamic registration version:  03.10.21

The more important issue right now is how to get localized labels for things like username, password etc. to work for the user registration process.  If there is a workaround doing something direct to the database, resource files, a bit of code etc. I can live with that.  For the immediate term, we're only talking about 6 or 7 fields/labels

On the less important topic of default vs. localize, i want the site to ultimately have chinese as its default language.  So i guess i should set english as default, finish the localization, then change the default?  Or maybe i misunderstand the meaning of "default" for dynamic registration, and should only set DNN's default to chinese and not dynamic's default...

Well you shouldn't need to change anything via code or localization at all. Basically for the 'default' language on the site this is what you should configure (seperate from the content localization area) all of the properties. This includes the properties on each question and all of the global properties. Whatever the 'default' language is should be setup as if you were not using content localization at all. For example, when you save a question you save the question label, the question header, footer, required field text, example text etc... Within the module configuration you save the display after message, the form header and footer, etc... So, all areas of configuration are for the initial language. If your initial default language is going to be Chinese for the site then I would just set it all up to use Chinese initially. Then, under content localization you can then generate language sets for all other languages. This includes all languages that are on the default langauge so you can specify seperate properties for these. If you run into more problems you should open a support ticket as there are no known bugs related to this that I know of.
