Is it possible to chain two SQL based list boxes together so that when the user selects an item in the first I can use that in the SELECT for the second listbox?

For example the first listbox might be a list of projects and the second is a list of users working on the project selected.

I've tried using "Pass values of this question to session variable" (I set to 'ProjectSV') so that the selected item in the first listbox is available. This works fine.

I then tried to use that variable in the SQL statement for the second listbox...

SELECT  [UserID] AS QuestionOption
FROM [TestDB].[dbo].[UserValues]
WHERE [ProjectID] = '$(ProjectSV)'

But without any luck.

This would be so cool if it were possible!

Thanks, Bret (aka SingingSnail)

No matter what I try I cant get the Listboxes to use session variables. I've read your other posts on this (and tried all those ideas) and understand there was an issue at one time with this ... I'm using the latest version 2.5.

I know that the variables exist as I can see them elsewhere.

BTW this is one of the few DNN modules that actually works! I've paid out around $600 over the last month on various modules only to be disappointed most of the time.

Keep up the great work, Bret

After a lot more work ... I've posted another topic called "Session Variables and SQL in 2.5" that goes over this issue in more detail.

If I could work out how to close this one I would.
