hi there

I upgraded to opt in 4 and now Hotmail accounts are not being sent out. We never tested this in version 3 so don't know if it is the upgrade or something else.

Emails are not going to junk email either - nothing happens and they are marked as being sent.

btw, the subscription registration email is being sent to hotmail accounts - therefore I can confirm my smtp settings and smtp server are not blocking emails.

The only emails that are not sent are the ones sent to a distribution list.

Hi,

This is very odd as it uses the same function calls for sending out the subscription email as it does for the newsletter distribution email. Can you confirm if this is for a newsletter or email campaign? Also are you using the scheduler or just the regular send method?

Also, is the from email address the same on the newsletter VS what you ahve setup as the from email for the subscription registration?

Hi Chad, sorry this was an error on our side. Someone changed the SMTP server admin account name between registering test user accounts and sending test emails.

We tracked it down with the DNN Event Viewer - the error reported was 'not such user here' - so it would send test email to our local domain but not to any external domain (obviously due to relaying SMTP requests). Once we fixed the username, everything worked perfectly.

Sorry for any trouble caused...

Hi Peter,

we're having the same problem (it seems), only hotmail accounts are not receiving the emails (gmai, yahoo, etc are ok). This started to happen a couple of weeks ago and we still can't find what is causing the mails to be lost.

This is happening with 2 sites, what type of smtp configuration do you have? (anonymous, basic, etc)
