I'm only going to give the CAPTCHA field another try for another day or two, I am finding that it is too much trouble...

I discovered that the special new captcha field in v. 2.6 does not work as advertised, and in going back to the DNN captcha, I cannot figure out why its error message does not display at the top with the other error messages.

I went back and turned off client-side validation, using only server-side validation.

Hence I think the captcha error message display I was seeing is perhaps an issue in the client-side code....

What happened was that all my error messages appeared at the top, they were not formatted the same as the client-side error messages (much uglier), and all my text boxes were colored red, and the entire form displays differently in FF 2.x vs. IE 7.x.

I'm disappointed with this module -- support has done their best to be helpful, but the way it's put together requires an incredible amount of work, much more than it should be IMHO to get it to work consistently and nicely...

The captcha error message repeats itself UNDER the captcha image and text field, of all places...

Perhaps other people don't have all the issues I have had with this module, and I am happy for them....

Thank you, Tom

Tom,

Hi. I have a few questions about the issues you are having.

1. What specific features of the 'Advanced Captcha' field are not working or are not as advertised (actually this was not even an advertised feature within the initial 2.6 release so I am assuming you are referring to a forum post?)

2. Yes, server side validation does appear differently then client side validation. The validation can appear at the top, the bottom, and an additional message can be displayed as well. These are all settings you can turn on and off under module configuration, validation configuration. You probably also enabled the feature 'Use custom CSS stlylesheet class for invalid validation fields.' in that area? If so, this is what is turning the fields red. This will make any field that does not pass validation use the DynamicForms_FieldError.

As far as the captcha message appearing twice. Do you have something specified for both Required Field Text and Required Field Error Message? It probably works differently with this field and you should only need one, I would leave out the error message and keep the required field text.

Also, if you still are not happy and just purchased the standard edition please let us know and we can issue you a full refund.

-Chad
