I'm working on a form with several options; dropdowns, radio buttons, etc. Near the top of the form I have given users the option of attaching a document.

Later in form I have a few selections that are question events; i.e. if they check a certain box it then asks them a more specific question.

My problem is that when the page shows the event question it clears out any information they had in the file attachment / upload option.

Are question events forcing a page refresh?

What are my options, other than putting the upload option at the very bottom? I've dealt w/ Postbacks in ASP but never w/ DNN modules.

Hi. Unfortunately there is no current work around for this situation for now (other then moving the form field past the question events). The problem is that with the file upload HTML control, you are not allowed to (via code) keep or set the value. This is a security related issue and if you google 'settings HTML file upload control' you will see several topics related to it.

We are working on a solution though... Something similar to how the latest IMAGE control works. There will be an option to 'Auto Preview' but instead an 'Auto upload', this way as soon as the user selects the file it will validate it, upload it, and replace the file upload control with a link instead of the file upload button. This will then continue to keep its viewstate / value throughout the session regardless of question events or other postbacks. We should have this within the next release (hopefully). We are right in the middle of development so woefully not far off.
