I am using Dynamic Registration and collecting a LOT of information from the user. Now i am searching for a good profile module which will allow me to display all of this information as well as have a bit of a myspace feel with blogs and such. I have installed a trial for myDNN which has an error and will not configure. Can anyone reccomend a good profile module ?

Hi. Well you might check out our Dynamic User Directory, and also keep in mind that Dynamic Registration can also be used as a 'profile page'. There is an option after registration under DNN Core Integration to 'Hide Username for updates' and 'Hide Password field for updates'. Are you wanting the user to be able to update their information or just view it?

As far as other modules, just make sure they can pull from the DNN Core fields. We have run into problems with a few other myspace type modules in the past as it would use a 'PID' proprietary key and not the UserID as a key.

Michael,

I have been playing with the Smart-Thinker modules and integrating them with the Dynamic Registration.

They seem to work well together with the exception of the Profile Images. They both have their own version and it's not easy to integrate them together. I decided to use the ST Profile images only because it allows me to easily add an image for the user to some of their other modules (Groups, Events, Wall, etc...)

I love the Dynamic Registration module but it does take some getting used to especially for laying out the format of the questions. I wish is had a better templating layout like the Dynamic Login module does.

Hi guys...

Yes Dynamic Registration stores all images in the DynamicRegistration_Images directory under the portals home directory (usuaully /portals/0) it then stores the filename as a unique name and as filename if mapped to any core profile property. If you chose to create thumbnails it will also create another with tn_ before the filename. This can work well with modules such as Dynamic User Directory but for something more of a myspace we do have many customers using our modules along with a module such as the Smart-Thinker module. We will be offering more image options down the road such as what directory to store images in, and other options based on suggestions etc...

Doug... Yes, the difference between something like Dynamic Login and Dynamic Registration as far as layout, is that Dynamic Login has a static number of potential properties etc... With a very dynamic solution such as registration/forms this can be a much bigger issue to render and generate... We would love to have a free style layout template where you just plug in all of the tokens but at this point its not a realistic option.
