Your Dynamic Registration or Dynamic Forms module is nearly perfect for accepting registrations for conferences and events. It is however missing a single key element, the ability to make a field a "Paymanet" field.

The objective would be to allow registation for an entire event with options, some of which require payment, like Lunch or Dinner. If those fields could be added a "Payables" so that all of those fields would be totaled as they are selected with the for submissions then taking the user to PayPal or Google Checkout to process the payment and finalize the registration.

Can this be done? Both modules would really benefit from this ability.

I can certainly see how some enhancements to this would be beneficial, not sure what the best scenerio would be, I think it would be best to pass a total or values to an actual payment provider instead of having to build the entire module around proving all point of sale functionality. To do this we have looked allowing fields to be calculated (i.e. for a total) but this feature has not yet been implented in either module.

Without adding any functionality there are still a few features you could take advantage of with another module that would handle the payment.

1. Use Dynamic SQL Events to do the calculations. You can use SQL to add values together and you could also pass certain field values to a store procedure to either do the calculations or store your values into a seperate table to help with what you are trying to accomplish. For example if it was for a conference all of the details of the form could be added to your specific table just for registration with the dynamic SQL event.

2. Pass the values of the form or registration page to either a querystring or session variable. These variables could be passed for example to our Tailored Text/HTML module. After the form is submitted you could have it have a detail page such as:

Dear $(QuerystringVariableFirstName),

Thanks for submitting your conference participant details. Your total fees come to: $(TotalFees). Please click on the paypal link below:

The paypal link would then include a link to your payment processes and also pass the same value for total fees.

As long as the module could be easily configured by the novice. The value here would be to offer complete online conference registrations that the users could set up with little guidance.

Agree 100%

Data Springs is a fantastic company, with awesome products ...but the Dot Net Nuke community seems to gear itself toward a limited market (technical, I.T. folk).

I am very busy running my company and don't have the time, nor the desire to learn SQL or 'query strings'.

I want and need 1,2,3 'click and go' solutions.

Cheers

Dan,

Thanks for your comments. We do try and gear our modules towards novice administrators and often this gets the job done but its also common that users want more advanced features or integration options and its hard not get technical. We always have to keep in mind with each product that we release that we are helping create solutions for our customers and each customers requirements and implementations are different. What is a feature to some is not always a feature to all. We do strive to have up to date user guides, test sites for all users such as betasprings.com, general help during implementations, and we have also been adding examples/demonstrations of using our modules as well. Additionally you don't have to implement any of the advanced features (this is actually why we put them in that category). You can simply not utilize those extended options.

If you are wanting a "hands off" approach to parts of the implementations I would suggest having a Data Springs project manager or myself discuss your needs in more details. We provide DotNetNuke consulting for small, medium, and large implementations and our rates are even more affordable if we are implementing our own products. Just something to consider. If you are interested you can kick the process off by clicking on the 'Get Quote' from the main menu of the site.

Thanks again for your comments.
