I setup a couple of news items while logged in thru Firefox, then when I went to look at it in IE7, the space where the ticker should be is there and the title of the module is there, but there are no items visble.

When I went to adjust the settings to the module in Firefox, the ticker  then also disappeared in Firefox.  I thought it might have something to do with visible colors, but I'm not having any luck messing with that or the settings.

I see the event and the correct colors in the page source, so I'm starting to wonder if it's someting in the javascript?  I'm on DNN 04.08.00

I heard there was a version 1.5 for this module.  Can I get this?

Hi. Yes just open a support ticket and we will make sure you have the most up to date version. Is this something you can duplicate with the module any time or was this an isolated incident? Are there any javascript errors on the page?

I have discovered, I in fact have 1.5.  I thought I had 1.3 for some reason.  Perhaps I should try that version instead.  Could I get that one?

I have no javascript errors.  I was using negative margins on my skin to center the page of my site.  I took that out, no change.  I tried changing containers, no change.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled the module, no change.  I have yet to replicate the situation where the news items show up and then disappear in Firefox.  Now I just get a blank space, same as IE.

You can take a look at my test server if you want and see what you can determine.  www.torianweb.com

I'm going to switch over the domain next week to theirs and I'd really like this ticker working- it was one of the main reasons we bought the package as opposed to the indivdual modules.

Okay, I found it! I realized I had a JavaScript running that is supposed to disable a tooltip bug in some browsers so you can hide the popup over a flash animation- it messes with the z-index and thus, created my problem. The bug wasn't really that big of a concern on my site, so I just ditched the script, and presto! The ticker works. For future reference, no one should put the commonly used flashfix.js script and the Data Springs News Ticker module on the same page. Unless they want to try and fix the JavaScript to get around it- for me, it wasn't worth the time.

I still have a problem.

Now, when the News Ticker is on a page with the Flash Image Rotator, it does the same thing. I have flash in other places on my site (embedded into my skin), and that doesn’t seem to cause any problems, it’s only when both the News Ticker and the Flash Image Rotator are on the same page. Somehow, the Z index is affected and is causing the news ticker to be hidden. This only happens in IE 6&7 not Firefox. Look at the site if you can, and tell me what I should do. My only option at this point is to ditch one or the other modules on my site. If my problem is not isolated, this is a conflict you should definitely fix, seeing that both of the modules are yours- they should both work on the same page.

Please help- we are switching over to their main domain soon!

Hi. Ill look into this. We recently added features to 'avoid' the 'IE Click to Active This Control' feature but its possible the javascript is conflicting with other javascript on the page (such as the news ticker module). If necessary we might have to change the javascript function names or possibly provide the ability to not use this feature at all (not have the IE click to activate javascript function hack).

I looked thru the JavaScript on both modules- I am by no means a programmer when it comes to this language; I usually copy and paste what I need. I think you are right though; it looks like that's where it's hiding elements it should not.

A way to just turn the bug fix off would be great.

Also... I have tested and verified this issue. This is the first time this has been reported so I have logged it for review for future updates for the Flash Image Rotator module. The issue is coming up because of the javascript that is rendered to stop the 'Click to Activate' but we are reviewing if we need to change this feature (or can change this enhancement) or if we will need to add the ability to optionally turn it on/off per module instance. If we can change it to avoid conflict that would be ideal but still reviewing.

Thanks for your attention to this issue.  Your module made it very easy for our client to change out the images themselves.  For now, I have gone back to using the flash animation I created that looks the same as what your module generates.  I will have to update the animation mannualy for the client until this is fixed.

Let me know, if you can, as soon as there may be a solution.

-We are very pleased with the module package as a whole.  The good documentation and prompt support are the best things about your product.  Thank you!
