I purchased your User Registration module, and your User Directory module yesterday. So far, I'm greatly impressed with the User Registration module, but not so happy with the User Directory module. For one thing, I expected to easily be able to link from an item in the User Directory to the person's record in User Registration. Also, I can't seem to get the Manage Search to work, and I don't see anything about it in the documentation. How do I use this feature? I don't understand why the 'criteria' has a check box on one side, and a radio button on the other side. And I haven't been able to save a search - when I click Update, the page refreshes, but nothing else happens. If I leave the search and come back, it hasn't sasved my search. How do I use this feature?

Anne,

I can you please give us some feedback on this now, I know I sent you the pre-release to v2.0 and we plan to release it soon so interested in any comments you have now that you have been running off of that release.

In order to easily 'link' from an item to a detailed view of the users directory you can either link to their profile directly within DNN from a URL or you can use a module such as our Tailored Text/HTML. We have an example of using this type of integration on our site but I do admit it is a little cumbersome. You can see a view of this if you go to the main Dynamic User Directory product page and click 'View Details' on one of the users.

I'm sorry - I should have replied earlier. I am  happy with the User Directory now. 1 - with the new release you gave me, Manage Search works. 2 - I figured out how to integrate the user directory with Dynamic Registration, and it is actually quite easy. 3 - your customer service is excellent.

I didn't get any docs with the pre-release software - did you update it to include info about the search capabilities? I still don't really understand why the criteria section has radio buttons on one side, and checkboxes on the other. And I can't seem to get rid of the criteria drop down box from the search on the main form. Since I am only offering my users 1 criteria, I would like for the drop-down box not to show up. I'm afraid it will confuse some of my users. (yes, some of them are easily confused!)

Anne, this documentation has been updated now for the user directory. We plan to release 2.0 next week to everyone so hopefully it will be a big hit.

On this question - I still don't really understand why the criteria section has radio buttons on one side, and checkboxes on the other.

One is for allowing the different search types (i.e. Contains, begins with, ends with, not does equal, equal, etc...). The other is actually setting which is the default when the user navigates to the directory. For example, maybe you want to have a search field called 'First Name' and include Beings with, ends with, and contains as the available search criteria but you want to default the search option to begins with? On another search field you might want to specify the same exact search criteria but default it to 'Contains'. Hope this helps.
