Hi,

I simply can't make the "Region" field appear properly on the registration form like it's shown in the user guide. When I add it, it shows like a large multiline textbox, even though typing in is only possible on one line.
The behaviour is proper and when the country is changed to USA or Canada the dropdown appears correctly. However as soon as you change the country to another one it's back to being the huge single-line but looking like a multiline text box.

Also, is there a way to make the default be Canada for the Country? Or does it have to be chosen manually every time?

Thanks,

Emil

Hi. We just discovered this in the 3.3.6 release which was just posted and we are working on a fix. This occurred because it was appearing with a height of 0 in Firefox for some reason however now its being set to a height of 75 pixels which is very large.

Until we get a fix out you can fix this problem by navigating to host, SQL and executing this SQL:

Update DynamicRegistration_Question
Set OptionType2 = '20'
Where QuestionType = 'DNNRegion'

Sorry for the problems, we should have something out soon for this.

Hi Chad. I have the same problem. I executed the SQL script but the problem is not resolved. There is also the word "null" above country.

However, when I move Region to be below Country, it works fine.

Actually, when I reverse the order, the word "null" then appears next to the Region field, rather than the Country field.

Hope this feedback helps. Thanks Chad.

Chad, one thing puzzles me. Your fix only seems to address the height of the text box. However, a text box should not appear at all -- it should be a drop-down box, not a text box. The drop-down should reflect the Region items related to the Country.

Well the Region only appears when the dropdownlist is not a country that has regions. If you choose United States or Canada it should appear as a dropdownlist?

Right, but it's not -- it's appearing as a text box UNLESS I move the Region field to be below the Country field. But then the word "null" appears next to the Region field.

Let me install 3.1 and see if the problems I'm experiencing in the Beta are resolved or not. I'll report back.

Chad and all,

Just installed version 3.1 and the Region issue is resolved completely. Works just as I'd expect it. I have the Country before the Region field, btw, which makes sense for me, otherwise everyone would be typing their province or state first, and then when they select Canada or USA they'd have to go back and select from the drop down - making it double work. I recommend leaving the country before the Region even though it may seem counter-intuitive.

Thanks for the quick response in resolving this, Chad!

I am please to echo Emil -- 3.1 resolved my difficulty completely.

1. The word "null" was a bit of html entered into the control's footer -- not sure why but am guessing it was something with the FCKeditor and not DR. Anyway, Chad had me check and that was what was causing that (thanks Chad!).

2. Since I prefer the Country field above the Region field (as does Emil, I see), selecting the country brought up the appropriate combo box for the Region. By design, if I put the Region above the Country, then Region is rendered as a text box. This makes sense to me though I suppose another way of looking at it is that if one sets Country to a default country, such as United States (which I typically do), then one might want the Region above it to automatically display a list of states on loading the form. Anyway, I'm perfectly happy with how it works.

Thanks Chad!
