I just purchased Dynamic Registration and am having an issue with it.

I made the change in Site Settings to change my User page to point to the Dynamic Registration form that I created.

Our site does not offer registration as our users are pre-populated from a membership list using Interactive User Import.  When a new user logs in using information that we provide, he is presented with the DNN screen to change his password.  After changing the password, the user is redirected to the DNN Registration screen to update the profile rather than the Dynamic Registration form that I created.

What do i need to configure in order to have it direct to the Dynamic Registration form rather than the DNN form?

Thanks

I think you need to uncheck “Required” in the user properties fields, otherwise if this is set when users logs in and have this required fields values empty, DNN will always redirect the user to the DNN core user page for the user to update this required fields.
Even if you in the DNN site admin “Page management” change the user page to a page with the DR form, DNN will anyway redirect the user to the built in DNN registration page if values is required and missing whenever a user logs in.
I might be something else or I might be wrong, it is just from top of my head.

Thanks, Bamse.

I unchecked that property, but I do need to collect some information from the user on the first time that he/she logs in. Mainly, I need to collect the user's personal email address. Because the users have been pre-populated using the business email address, I need to find a way to collect the personal address and force the collection prior to getting to the rest of the site.

When the user logs in for the first time, he is presented with the change password screen. After entering the password, he is redirected to the DNN core user page which doesn't have the email address on it. I was hoping to have the user redirected to the Dynamic Registration page so that I could collect that email address at this point.

So this is something that you cannot collect initially during registration? Yes, unfortunately (at least at this time) the DNN Core doesn't provide for the ability to redirect to different page when the user logs in and needs to be forced for more information. We have this on a list to present to the DNN Core team soon, still working out some of what we would like to ask for as far as enhancements.

One option?

You could setup the user with a role initially, we will call it 'Needs more info', then setup Dynamic Login as a module and use the feature to 'Redirect to page based on user role'. You could set the module to redirect to a registration page which would collect this additional information, and after registration setup another completion event to remove the user from that security role. This way the next time the user signed in they would not be redirected to that page.

Chad,

I can't collect it initially during registration because the users are pre-registered from a list of employees. I'm trying to force the user to include more information before getting access to the site.

Right now, they don't see the registration page (because they were pre-registered) and aren't forced to enter the email address. I was hoping that dynamic registration would take care of it, but i will try the dynamic login as well with an additional role. I will report back.

Thanks.

In this case I would set the email as required (togheter with all other fields you need), then when users log in they will be redirected to the built in DNN registration page where they need to inserted this values to continue.

And then still use DR as a general “user details update page” on a separate page on the site.

The problem is if you have a skin with the user token in it, it redirects the user to whatever you have set in the admin settings, but if you change this token to a “hardcoded url” to your above custom details user update page then I think it should work for you. So my suggestion is to change the skin token to a hard coded url to your registration page instead.
