I just upgraded to DR 3.2 and now it seems as though no emails are being sent out after registration either to the site admin or the new user.

I tried switching back to DNN core registration and emails are sent correctly .. so not an email problem.

My previous version worked fine.

Note: when I first performed upgrade to DR 3.2  .. I got permission errors (my fault). Once fixed i tried to reinstall DR3.2 and got error reffering to ModuleDefID already exists - Failure. So I completely removed old DR module and files, deleted remaining DR ModuleDefID record .. then reinstalled fresh successfully .. but hence no email on registration ???

There are no errors or exceptions in the event viewer. I have no completion events or question events.

Thoughts?

Hi. What version did you upgrade from?

With the latest releases(s) of Dynamic Registration, all email communication is now setup through Dynamic Email Completion Events. In previous versions we would send out an automatic message however now (to provide more flexibility and so forth) you should setup a completion event to handle email communication to the user, to the administrator, etc... Setup the email events to be fired for 'Any Field Response'

Hi Chad, I upgraded from DR 3.1 ... I think I understand your response. Although in version 3.1 it seems to me that a registration email was sent to site admin and user regardless of whether there was a completion event or not.

I m trying to use verified registration ... and that doesn't seem like an easy task using a completion event. Did I perhaps break some connection during upgrade?

Thanks

Kelly

Hi. There are a few threads related to this within the forums. A quick search for $(VerificationCode) or $(VerificationCodeLink) within the forums or user guide should bring up several topics. These tokens just need to be completed within the email event.

Hi Chad, thanks I think I can work with that! If you don't mind me asking though ... was this a change in 3.2? Am I correct in thinking that 3.1 did send those emails .. specifically new user and verification emails? I'm just trying to determine if in fact my installation is working correctly.

If that is indeed the case that 3.2 no longer automatically sends those emails by default, then I will have to create several completion events .. one for verification email, one for admin new user notice, and possibly one for after user verification .... I like the old 3.1 way better. That said, I really like your modules and good service.

Thanks

Kelly

Kelly,

Hi. I believe this was actually a change from 2.4 to 3.0 but I would have to go back and check. We should probably add some steps in the wizard to automatically allow you to generate these completion events, however I think you will agree once you get them setup that this method provides the most flexibility for reasons such as:

1. You can easily set specific email properties such as tailored email to, email cc, email priority
2. You can change the email message that goes out (and also include HTML within the message)
3. If you don't want a message going out to a user or to an administrator you no longer are forced too (each implementation is different)

Thanks for your feedback!
