I've been using Dynamic Registration for a few months now for my high school class's reunion.  I am now going to add paypal integration to be able to purchase tickets / sponsorships for the reunion.  I'm kind of confused about completion events and paypal integration.

I already have four completion events that fire when a user first registers.  I am going to add a new one that I want to fire when a payment is pending or completed.  If I use a EnablePGateway question to disable the payment gateway until someone wants to pay for the reunion, I assume I don't need to hookup all the other completion events with various IPN payment status codes, correct?

What I've read so far makes it seem like if you turn on the payment gateway, no completion events will fire unless they are hooked up to the status codes.

I only want to go to paypal when the person says they want to pay, and it will never be offered before they are a registered user.

Thanks,
Chris

Hi Chris,

So you want your old classmates to register then have the option to pay afterwards, right?  Here's what you might want to do.  Keep your  Dyn. Reg the way you had it before without enabling payment gateway.

Then in General Settings, check the Display Message after initial reg.  You can customize this message in Module Layout/Javascript/Stylesheet to where you offer them the option to pay.

Then link them to a Dyn FORM (not REG) with  the payment gateway enabled and all the completion events.  You can even set up a link from anywhere on your site to this FORM  if they change their minds later on.

Hope this helps!

Hi.  Thanks for the reply.  I think I'm going to do something similar, but not use Dyn Forms.  See, I want the registration to be associated with the account, so they can check on the registration status or make changes whenver they want.  To do that, I think I have to use Dyn Registration, so they don't get a blank form each time they go to the page, correct?

What I've done so far is setup another Dyn Registration module on another page which will handle the reunion registration.  Only that module will have the paypal gateway turned on, so the completion events on initial registation will still be all set.

Does that make sense / is it a good way to go for what I want to do?

Thanks,
Chris

Yes, Chris, that's actually a good way to do it, too. Way to go!
