Hi.  I'm trying a very simple form trying to get used to paypal integration.  I've got it sending an item name and amount, and I "pay" for an item with no problem.  I just want to see the workflow, so I've hardcoded the item name and amount fields.  The problem is after I've paid through the paypal sandbox, and you click return to merchant, it causes a redirect loop.

Here is the url for the registration module:
/ReunionInfo/Registration/tabid/209/Default.aspx

I've used a packet sniffer and this is what I see.  When you click Return to Merchant, the server sees a post like this:
/ReunionInfo/Registration/tabid/209/PayPalReturn/True/Payment/Sucess/PayPalReturnID/91d62d72-a656-4e9f-82ba-a7fa8db80552/DynamicModuleID/666/Default.aspx

I setup a completion even for redirect success and redirect cancel.  It is supposed to go back to the home page.  The server responds with a redirect and here is the location field:
Location: http://www.mydomain.com/Default.aspx?TabId=209&PayPalReturn=True&Payment=Sucess&PayPalReturnID=91d62d72-a656-4e9f-82ba-a7fa8db80552&DynamicModuleID=666

So then a GET is executed against the server for that page (which I believe ends up being the same registration page) and the server responds with the same redirect.  This goes on until I close the browser.

Does this ring a bell for anyone?  It looks like the redirect event isn't working correctly in this case, but I assume I have something misconfigured.

Thanks,
Chris

Hmmm... So you have a Success URL Event setup and 'linked' to a PayPAl Completion Redirect Success IPN status code? What happens when you just navigate to that same link yourself? Same problem, browser hangs?

Do you have a cancel URL event also setup and does the same problem happen with the cancel event?

Hi Chad.  Yes, I have a URL / Page redirect completion event setup to redirect to the home page.  This event is linked to the Redirect Successfully and Redirect After Cancel status codes.  Note that I don't have a seperate one for Cancel right now.  I can go ahead and add this now, but is it possible that putting both codes to one event would cause a problem?

I tested cancelling a payment and essentially the same thing happens, though I see in the network trace that in the post it says Payment=Cancelled.

Thanks,
Chris

FYI to anyone that finds this in a search...  The issue with the redirect loop appears to have been caused by spaces in the Paypal "Additional Parameters" in the paypal gateway config.  It even says no spaces, but I guess I had one

Thanks to dsprings for the help.

Thanks for the follow up Chris... Yes, mostly spaces between parameters can really cause a problem. So if you have &FirstName=Chad &LastName=Something then it would cause a problem right before the &LastNAme parameter.
