Hi Chad,

I have a nonprofit charitable organization that advocates for people with physical and intellectual impairments.  We are having a problem testing Dynamic Registration because the screen reader for the blind users does not read field labels.  I believe this could be rectified simply by including another field attribute like "Title" and optionally have it adopt the label text.   The AccessKey attribute and property would also be helpful for the physically challenged.  In any event, would you be willing to make a modification assuming it is as simple as I have indicated and give us a turnaround in about 7-10 days?

At this point I am not sure of my specification.  I will check the screen reader vendors to get you some clarification.  For now I just want to get your impression on a change such as this.

Regards,

Peter

Here is the Jaws knowledgebase article on the subject of HTML and accessibility.

Apparently, as I had guessed, the "Title" attribute to an input field is what Screen Readers look for when they are in Forms mode.

Peter,

Hi. Please check with your vendors. If possible we will get it in the 2.4 release which will be ready within about two weeks.

Also, it should just be using the standard DNN labels. Do these labels already provide the support you need?

Here is the knowledgebase link with the Screen Reader vendor. I was correct the Title attribute is required.

Hi Chad,

Will you be able to get to this for the next release? We have great hopes that you can. If it is of any help, Steve at Code5Systems was able to make the change fairly easily to his Form Master module and turned around a result in 2 days. I am by no means comparing him to you, but just letting you know so that you have an idea of the minimal workload required. Of course I don't know about the other items that are on your plate.

Regards,

Peter

Peter,

Yes. This will be in the 2.4 release. You should already be able to have a look and make sure the tag is correct at www.betasprings.com

Hi Chad,

Before I purchase the 2.4 upgrade, can I confirm to my client that you have corrected the accessibility issues with Dyn. Reg. ?

Thanks
