I have a client who is not completely sure her newsletters are getting sent out and so I had a look at the scheduled newsletter history in the web interface and through the db.

I ran the following query:

SELECT     PreviousDistributionID, PreviousNewsletterID, OptInEmailID, EmailAddress, Status, SentDateTime, PortalID, Inactive
FROM         DataSprings_OptInEmailPreviousDistribution
WHERE     (PortalID = 23) ORDER BY PreviousNewsletterID, EmailAddress, SentDateTime

What I am curious about is that I see in the result set the same email addresses (most of them) repeated from 2 to 4 times in very close intervals... Does this mean that the newsletter was sent to that address more than once?

I am more curious than anything.

Thanks,

Scott

Scott,

Hi. Possibly. The only times we know that this can happen is if you schedule the distributions to run too frequently BEFORE the schedule finishes with the other instances. For example you might run into this if you sent 500 distributions ever 30 seconds because it might only be at 20 of 500 before it starts the next instances of the schedule. The way to avoid this would be to set it for maybe 500 every 30 minutes etc... It does check the table to verify it hasn't been sent o that email address before sending but I am not sure if it does this when the scheduler overlaps itself.

Also, the best way to test this would probably be to enable logging and/or change the module to be in test mode so it would send literally every message to the test email account.

Oh, and when sending to the test email account you can include parameters to see where it would have gone etc... (the email token, firstname token, etc...).
