I'm having trouble importing from a csv file.
The format I use is:
name,company,emailaddress

There is use of some characters like: / . ' etc.
Might this be causing the problems?

It says: Index was outside the bounds of the array.

I'm having the exact same problem.
I have tried formatting the csv file in different formats, comma separated, tab separate, making sure there are no blank lines.
Thinking of importing the data directly into the sql server tables....
Any help would be appreciated.

Johann,

I think you sent us the import file you were using and we are going to review that... I believe what is happening is that if the file is saved in a particular format its having a problem. What I mean by format is even though its tabbed or comma delimited you still have options within a text file to save as ASCII, UTF8, Unicode etc... I believe what is happening is that its being saved in a format the module is having a problem with. We are going to review this more though but thats my guess.

Chad,

Thank you for your help via email.
Just to let others know with a similar problem what the solutions was for me.
This error occurs if:
There is a line in the text file with both a blank Firstname and LastName...

Hi Chad,

I have just purchased Opt In Email 3 Enterprise edition and I am having the same import problems. I have tried importing various formats saved from Microsoft XL and when I try to import them I always receive the same error message:

A critical error has occurred.
Unspecified error

Have you found a fix for this problem?

Best Regards
Dennis Whyte

Hi all,

I did a little further reading and solved the problem. I found that when the list is exported into Excel and saved as csv comma or tab format, it leaves a blank line at the bottom of the list. My workaround is the same as others. Save the .csv as a text tab separated and remove the blank line/s at the bottom of the list. It works for me.
