Hello,

I noticed there is a way to import dnn role user into a mailing list.
When I perform the import it says 202 users imported, but when I look in the DB or Manage Lists/Users only the first user is imported.

I have a clean install of DNN 455. Can you tell me what I do wrong.

Thanks in advance,

Hi, very odd. So far I cannot duplicate this. The quick test I did:

* Installed a fresh installation of DNN 4.5.5
* Added three test users under the 'Registered' role
* Create an opt in email list/category called test

After executing the import for registered users it told me that 4 records were imported, I checked and see them (my three test users and the registered user).

A few quick questions, mostly just to help determine what might be different from our installations. Are you using object qualifiers? Are these users Approved? Do they have emails?

I checked the code as well, the fact that its coming up with the right number (202) really looks like it should be adding them. The basically loops through the role and the counter only increments if it comes back successfully that it saved.

Final check, can you go to Host, SQL and execute this query:

Select * from DataSprings_OptInEmail

I am interested in determiningif the opt in emails are getting saved but just not tied to the category right. I think the way it works is after the initial import it will skip the user, this is useful in case a user has opted out and therefore you want that user skipped. Maybe in your case you imported them to a test category, then deleted that test category? Now when they are imported they are skipped? IF so you can delete all current users in that table:

DELETE from DataSprings_OptInEmail

Just thinking out loud here

Chad,

I found the problem, For testing purposes I always set the users e-mailadres to my own so they don’t accidently get an test mail.
When you import the users they get validated on a unique e-mailadres. So only one user gets imported.

Chad,

I have around 96 users in my portal, but when I run the import facility, only 66 records are being created in the dnn_DataSprings_OptInEmail and dnn_DataSprings_OptInEmailCategory tables.  All of the users are approved (at least according to the aspnet_Membership table entries).  What other criteria is being used to determine whether or not a user can be imported into the Opt In tables?  Is there a stored procedure I can review?

Thanks!

Brian,

Do all of these users have a unique email address?

Chad,

Yes, the users do have unique email addresses.  I have found a work around in which I simply populate the OptIn tables from a joining of the dnn_Users and aspnet_Membership tables (on email).  I think this will do the trick, unless there is some other criteria that you guys is feel is appropriate to take into account when importing emails into the OptIn tables.

Thanks!

Brian

No, this should to the trick. Just make sure to then insert rows into the opt in user/opt in list table. Not sure what the issue would be, I will do some testing. If you have a chance please post the script you are using as it might be helpful to other users down the road.

Thanks,

Chad

Hi there,

Is there a way to automate this process so Registered users are added to the recipient list in Opt in on the fly?

Thanks,

Dan
