Everything is working great with the opt-in module. I thought of one more addition that would be nice for my site: the ability to change the view state of a module based on whether or not they are subscribed to my newsletter.

For example, on the home page, I have a plain text/HTML module that shows a newspaper and a subscribe button, which will take a user to the 'subscription center' when clicked.

It would be a nice touch if I could display this module ONLY if they are NOT subscribed.  Therefore, I thought there might be a way to have the opt-in email module change that setting on the fly (no idea how the database treats the roles, but hoping it's as easy as a dichotomous variable of 1 for subscribed and 0 for not subscribed).

Does any of this make sense and easily doable? Thoughts?

John,

Hi. Yes this would be a nice feature. There is some concern about adding this as to always make sure that role is kept up to date with the subscription process etc... For example if you went into the core and removed the role would they also be removed from the subscriptions? Just a few 'what if's' that I can think about.

More importnatly though... This can be actually be done if you implement the module with the Dynamic Registration module. Dynamic Registration has the ability to add/remove a particular role from a user based on a fields response (i.e. the same field that you use with the Opt In Email module integration etc...). Does this help?
