I finally got past the site crashing stage, after multiple uninstalls and re-installs. Now the Advanced Email module gives me the following message:

Error: Newsletters is currently unavailable

The other modules display and function normally.

I am also getting this error:

DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at Dataspring.DNN.Modules.OptInAdvanceEmail.AdvancedNewsLetters.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

I deleted module and renistalled - same. DNN v. is 4.0.3, Optin - Adv. Email v. is 2.60.10
Any ideas?

I have the same problem with DNN 4.4.1 and Opt-In 2.6.2500. Can we get a response from the DataSprings team?

Hey guys. Sorry for not posting a formal reply yet to this post. This can happen if:

a. A category is deleted or a child portal is deleted (we have a patch for this issue)
and
b. If you don't setup any categories and just install the module right out of the box. You just need to go to the main opt in email module and add at least one category.

Within the next incremental or major release we will add some additional fixes do display a more descriptive message for this instead of the error.

Hi Had same problem as above on DNN 4.4.1.  Already had a category set up and still not fixed.  Deleted all categories and added 1 back - still had the same issue.

I had the same problem. What I did to fix it is to go into "manage categories" (under opt in email) and edit/update my category. When I went back to the tab with the "advanced email" module on it the error was gone. Maybe by saving the category again, it restored whatever was missing? Anyhow, give it a try.
