We just did our first mailing,,, using Advanced Email v3.00.00 and Opt-In Email v3.10.10 on DNN v 4.07.00. I got emails to go out, but they went out many times (like 3, some got 4),,, so I just wanted to clarify how the scheduler actually timed things relative to sending out emails.
From what I have read, you set the number of emails to send in a schedule, the time lapse, and retry to whatever you think will work.
We've got just over 2000 emails in our list. I was hoping to send about 200 every 30 mins, which would take 5 hours to get them all sent, so I set max number to be 250, time lapse to be 30 mins, retry to be 30 mins. run on application start, catch up enabled - which was obviously (after the fact!) wrong.
Would the app take the first 200, send them, then 30 mins later take the next 200, etc. continuously until all the emails have been grabbed and sent? And since the run wouldn't be done in 30 mins, it must try again and start at the beginning?
Should I have set my retry to be 5 hours? From reading, I think I now understand that your retry has to be long enough for your campaign to be through? or just long enough that a few groups are sent out?
Sorry for long post, but if I can get a handle around the timing, I will be a very happy camper (as will my recipients). I have disabled the scheduler for now so I don't keep on sending emails! In the previous newsletters area, the one newsletter send has sent 4000 copies, another that I tried that I didn't think went through sent 2000. |
