Hi everyone,
I wanted to let everyone know some of the upcoming enhancements and features within the 2.3 release of Dynamic Forms. We are almost complete with the development phase of the upcoming release and should have a beta release ready within a few weeks and the final release ready by the end of April.
A few upcoming enhancements:
Question Events
- New enhancements to question events including the ability to select multiple affected fields from an event. Currently if you setup an event so that if the user 'checks' a box, or 'selects' a response from a dropdownlist you can hide a question or display a hidden question. In the upcoming release you can setup each event to hide as many questions as you would like based on the event response or shows as many questions that are marked hidden.
- New enhancements to disable field based on event (field is still visible, just disabled)
- All field types can be affected by question events now including text/HTML
Performance Enhancements
- We are implementing several new features for performance including a setup wizard for a list of default questions to start fom, AJAX/Javascript when setting up new fields for defaulting sort order, help text, short field name, etc... All based on inital question label.
- Implementing ability to 'clone' fields/copy fields when setting up a new question
General
- Content Localization, Question Events, Dynamic Complection Events IPORTABLE now (before just questions and settings)
- New stylesheet classes for all elements of the form
- New ability to have field labels and fields display in the same column - important for smaller forms in smaller DotNetNuke containers.
- Now you can override the label and field stylesheet class for each field
- Ability to pass a unique completionID session variable after a form is submitted (useful for integration with other modules such as Tailored Text/HTML)
We will keep you posted with additional release information once we have the concrete dates.
Thanks,
Chad

What is the procedure to upgrade this module? Will existing forms be upgraded or need recreating to take advantage of the new features?
Thanks,
Ken |

Ken,
Sorry for the late reply I was thinking we had this same response in another post. Yes, you can just upgrade on top of your existing installation. All forms will still be in tact, you will want to go into manage questions/settings at least once and update the settings for any forms you have though just to be safe.
In the future all upgrades (unless there are specific instructions associated with the upgrade) will build/upgrade on top of themselves so you will not need to worry about upgrading and losing your forms etc...

Hi Chad,
How do you deal with point upgrades for Dynamic Forms? I have 2.2. Will I get a patch at Snowcovered or do we need to purchase every point upgrade?
Thanks,
Will Sugg

Will, Well basically here is how upgrades work... 1. If you purchase within 30 days a previous version you will always receive a patch notice if a new release is avaliable. 2. To upgrade from a point release (i.e. 2.1 to 2.2 etc...) there is a discount of approx 80% per upgrade. So to upgrade from 2.1 to 2.2 you would receive 80% off, to upgrade from 2.1 to 2.3 it would be 60% off etc... 3. If you are part of our Data Springs Collection package then you are entitled to all new releases and module updates as long as you are part of the most current collection package. We typically offer 3 collection packages per year and with each new collection you are also entitled to 80% off upgrading the collection. So.... One option is just to make sure you are part of the latest collection and then you don't have to worry as much about the point upgrades. We are continueing to review the possibility of a subscription package but at this point we are not setup and still reviewing this option. -Chad |
