Hi!

I have just created a huge form with almost 60 fields.
Now I want to create a Dynamic email event that is sent to the administrator. I understand he whole thing with writing the Short field name parameters in the email body.

But is there not an easier way to get the parameters in to the email body than to write them again?
thought it was possible to cut and paste them, but it doesn't work.  Please, isn´t there any easier way?

Best regards

Petri

Amen to that.  I noticed that too, right away.

My suggestion:  Pre-populate the email with all the form contents, and let the form designer just delete stuff they don't want.  Even if it was formatted super simple, it'd be handier than typing it all by hand!

For example:

First Name: $(FirstName)
Last Name: $(LastName)

Give us the whole form like that, and we can mess around with it and save it.  That'd be cool.

Hi guys... Yes this is a great enhancement request and one we have on the list to add. In version 2.5 we did add the feature to use $(ShortFieldName_FullResults) which is helpful as it also includes the field label etc.. Also, in other areas of the site (such as using tokens in the payment gateway or areas that are not using the Rich Text Editor) we have it so you can simply click one of the parameters and it will be inserted into the textbox. With Rich Text Editors we were running into issues however (especially with the different type of editors out there) so we are review this.

What we plan to implement is a few links that will be 'Prefill form with all form results' and/or 'Prefil form with all form results and labels' This way the form will automatically be formatted with all content and so forth and if you want to remove something it will be far less time consuming.

Ok boys... Signed. Sealed. Delivered... Ok, well more like Designed. Coded. Compiled.

We have added two new links above the parameters for the latest patch or next release. If you need this sooner we should have it under patches and hot fixes by the end of the week.

1. Link one will be to 'Generate Results Template'. This will be a table generated within the email message template that will be the field label in one column and the results in the other.

2. Link two will be to 'Generate Full Results Template'. The full results template will just be a list of short field names with the _FullResults flag. This flag automatically includes the label 'but' does not include anything at all if the field is left blank.

3. We also added tags for ShortFieldName_Image which will automatically create an image tag for image field. and a ShortFieldName_Link which will automatically create a link tag for file uploads if you would like.

So.... Hope you enjoy, it will really speed up the process of setting up email events.

Petri - Hi. I sent this over to you. Please give us any comments you might have on the enhancement so we can review before we release a patch / hot fix. We might end up (depending on the time frame) end up rolling the enhancements in the 2.6 release. For the 2.6 release we also have a clear fields button and hope to have the PayPal payment gateway finished up as well.

Hi!

Thanks Chad for the update.
I have played with the module a while now and I think the new feature works fine. I can´t find any problems with it.

It´s really a great feature to have all parameters populated, as in my case where I hade some forms containing many fields, as many as up to 50. It will save a lot of time for me when creating the dynamic email event.

Thanks a lot!

Hi guys... I just wanted to follow up on this post as we continue to add enhancements to the email completion events etc...

We are creating a patched update of 2.6 and will post this soon. This update includes the ability to now automatically click on each short field token within the listbox of available tokens and it will now move it over to the email message. This was previously added to SQL events (that uses the standard multi line textbox). If you remember, earlier versions had this as a literal control you could copy/paste over into the editor but with the latest versions we changed this to be in a listbox as forms can get very large...

So... In short - you will now be able to simply click on each token within the listbox and it will find add the tokens to the current cursor location of the rich text editor.
