Hey Chad,

I have purchased the latest dynamic forms module from data springs and I am having issues with using query string in SQL driven options.

my query is

SELECT off_date as QuestionOption, off_date as QuestionOptionValue from mw_DynamicForms_Custom_Offerings where offering = '$(Offering)'

This query works fine when I use a value in place of the token. I also made sure the offering field's sort order is less than the offering date field for which I am using this query.

I saw a post in this forum which was posted an year back and deals with the same issue. You had then mentioned that it is was a bug in the module and you would send a patch for the same.

Am not sure if this has been take care in the latest release as I am not able to make this work.If this is still a bug in the module, could you pls send me the patch asap?

If not and if I am missing something, please guide me.

Thanks,

Aarti

Hi,

Well yes it should be fixed if you are running on 2.6. You would also need to create a question event though so that 'option 1' causes a postback.

A few things...

1. If you can setup a similar implementation on www.betasprings.com (login as host/dnnhost) we should be able to determine if the issue is a version difference or if its a implementation and setup issue

2. Have you checked out the Dynamic Forms Demos? There is one specifically related to multiple dropdownlists and data driven form fields based on other questions. Usually the biggest issue is that you need to setup a question event to cause a postback.

hey Chad,

I am facing a weird problem when I setup my question event.

Here is the situation.

"Field 1 ":

1. It is a text box.

2. It gets its value from a querystring

"Field 2"

1. It is a combo box whose values are populated using a sql.

2. The sql has a where clause which depends on the value of "field 1" (which means it is indirectly dependent on the query string)

Now, when I try to setup the question event, only those fields which are combo boxes get listed under "Initiation / Postback Question" which means "Field 1" does not get listed there (as it is a text box)

Please let me know how to handle this. I have also tried to simulate this in the page Dynamic Forms > rt_test in betasprings.com. (I have not simulated the querystring passing though)

Thanks,

Aarti

Aarti,

Hi. Yes there is some build in functionality to NOT allow textbox entries to be allowed within SQL Options. This is (right now) because of security reasons and possibly SQL Injections that can occur. We have worked out a few security measures and are allowing certain parameters to be passed and parsed for implementations such as these. If you look within the forums search for 'DSPARAM1' etc... You can pass this variable and $(DSParam1), $(DSParam2), $(DSParam3) are allowable querystring parameters you should be able to pass and it will get rendered properly within the SQL events.
