I must be missing something very obvious. I have a form completion event the execute the flowing sql:

INSERT INTO [mytable]
           ([EmailGUID]
           ,[Email]
           ,[FirstName]
           ,[YearOfBirth]
)
     VALUES
           ('$(EmailGUID)',
           '$(Email)',
           '$(FirstName)',
           $(YearOfBirth_Text)
)

it is actually inserting "$(EmailGUID)" instead of replacing the value. I tried removing the apostrofe, but then the insert doesn't happen.

What am I missing and how does one debug this? Why isn't the error sent to the event viewer?

thanks

Hi Lane,

Can you set up a demo of the problem on www.betasprings.com ?  (pls. use host / dnnhost to login.)  Please let us know your page name when it's ready.   Thanks!

Candace

Hi. Well a few things to look at as well.

* If you add ?Debug=True to the querystring when loading the form, it should spit out exactly what is being sent within the SQL Completion Event when you click Submit.

* I would also try and insert the text just as you have it in the SQL Event, only in an email event. You should receive an EMAIL that includes the parsed SQL. If you copy/paste that under Host, SQL does it work then?

* I notice that you don't have ' around the YearOfBirth_Text. This is probably suggested just in case an integer is not entered.

* Also... I am assuming that EmailGUID is the short field name of a field on your form?

As Candace suggested though I would setup a page on Beta Springs with your same implementation and we can assist further there.
