L.S.,

I created a contact form and I want to email the complete form to an entered email address. I thought this could be accomplished by defining a form completion event, but this functionality only seems to apply to one dynamic field.

Any advise on how to accomplish this is more than welcome.

Many thanks in advance for your respons.

Kind regards,

Jos,

Hi. Yes you should be able to do this as you described. Make sure you are giving each field a 'Short Field Name'. Each field requires a short field name before you can use it within an email message. For example, if the short field name of 'First Name' is FNAME you would use it in the email event as $(FNAME).

Hi Chad,

I supplied a short name for each dynamic field. I have defined the following (8) short names:

- name

- organisation

- address

- zipcode

- city

- emailaddress

- telephone

- question

Now I thought I could just create 1 event called "Submit Form". So I selected "New Event" and entered "SubmitForm" into the Event Name field. I defined the From and To Email Address fields and entered some text into the rich text editor to make up the message body. After all this I clicked "Update Event" in order to save this event. I did this while Dynamic Question was set to its default value (Select DynamicField) and this also applies to the Dynamic Field value within Form Completion Events which was also set to Select Dynamic Field. Finally I also clicked on Update Settings.

After updating the settings I was automatically redirected to the page on which this dynamic form module was added. I once again choose Manage Dynamic Questions for this particular form and noticed that within the Form Completion Events section, the value Select Event only has the default values: Select/ New Event. In other words: the event I just defined and saved has disappeared.

I noticed that if I do select a dynamic field, than the event is saved. But it seems to me that the event is than somehow connected with the selected dynamic field. As I wish to send the complete contact form at once to a entered email address I don't see why I should define events for each field. Or should I define 1 event and connect it with each dynamic field separately as in selecting the field under Dynamic Question and Dynamic Field?

I hope someone can help me out on this one.

Many thanks again for your respons.

Kind regards,

Jos Walrave

Hi there.

I have created a page with dynamic forms 2.2 where a visitor can fill in his name, address, email etc.

I have also created a "Form Completion Event" thats sends an email to the visitor when it completed a form. This is working OK.

When i try to add a second "Form Completion Event" that sends an email to the site administrator, the new event is never created. I checked the database table and saw no record for the new event. So it's not even added to the database.

I also tried to add another kind of event (the url redirect) and this event was also not added to the database.

Is there some sort a restriction in the number of "form completion events" that one can use on the same page? Or is this a known bug? I have tried using IE 7 and IE 6.

With kind regards,
Erik Sierra

Hi. For both of these posts above this is not a known but and you should be able to complete as many events as you would like. I want to make sure that you are saving the event first though, there is an 'Update Event' underneath where you are adding the event. If you click this then it should save the event. You might be confused and click 'Update Settings' below though. You would assume this would also update your event but it doesn't, you need to make sure you also click update event first. Are you already doing this?

Hi Chad,

I do click on the "update event" button first, before i click on the "Update settings" below. And the first event was added like this right away.

Hmmzz...
i'll just fool around with the "Form Completion Event" properties some more, see if i'm missing something.

With kind regards,
Erik Sierra
