Hi Chad,

Nice enhancements to this module. I was particulary interested in the SSO feature for a group of portals for one client.

I'm testing on a DNN v04.08.02 installation with only two portals, and I can't get SSO to work, so I'm looking for the "trick".

The user I am testing with is already registered in both portals.

I have Enable SSO turned ON, but I do NOT have the Add user to parent portal feature enabled as I do not want that (at this time anyway.)

Neither of the DL modules is on the default login page. I put them on test pages. Is that perhaps the problem? Right now, it doesn't even work for the portal host account.

For clarity, what I am looking for right now is to allow users registered at various portals within the same DNN instance (with the same credentials, of course)  to navigate between the various portals, once they have authenticated one time at any of the portals. I think that is what the documentation says it will do.

Hi. Well it shouldn't matter if they are the main login page or a seperate login page etc... It also shouldn't matter if you do not have the 'Add user to parent portal feature'. Basically what happens is when attempting to sign in it will check if the user exists in the current potal and if it doesn't, it will check to see (if SSO is enabled) if the user exists in the parent portal and attempt to authenticate them. If they are authenticated it will add a role to the userroles table.

As far as the authentication, once they are authenticated its really DNN at that point which should allow a signed in user to move between the portals. I must confess during testing this was on a parent/child and it was working as such but we will have to test against two parent portals on the same domain. For example if you sign in as host (or a user that exists on both parent and child portal) on www.betasprings.com and www.betasprings.com/child you will see that you can switch back and forth between betasprings.com and betasprings.com/child when you are logged in. At a quick glance though I am testing this on www.datasprings.com (logged in) and going to realestatedemo.datasprings.com and it doesn't appear to be authenticating me... Ill have to review if this is possible and if its not update the documentation or find a work around you can implement in DNN. It does appear to work between parent/child portals on the same portal though.

Hi Chad,

Yes, multiple parent portals of the same domain is what I am dealing with. Hope you can find a way to do this.

I am having a similar problem with the SSO with two parent portals.

When I try to login to the second portal I am redirected to the original portal and the following error is shown.

A critical error has occurred.
Failed to load viewstate. The control tree into which viewstate is being loaded must match the control tree that was used to save viewstate during the previous request. For example, when adding controls dynamically, the controls added during a post-back must match the type and position of the controls added during the initial request.

Whats causing this, is there a fix for it ?

Very weird... Are you forcing the redirection there? Can you verify under Admin, User Accounts if the user exists and is valid for both portals? The issue Rob was bringing up was that even though the user might be valid for both portals it is limited when you navigate between them (will not keep your authentication session)

Chad,

Solved that problem. I had a base href coded into the default.aspx which was redirecting back to the parent portal on every postback.

Thanks.
