I'm getting the following message when sending emails.... The message could not be sent to the SMTP server. The transport error code was 0x80040217. The server response was not available I can send an SMTP test message?

I broke down and decided to purchase an external SMTP solution... now I'm getting this error... I've tried Synchronous but it looks like it trying to send Asynchronous because there are multiple threads. The SMTP provider allows 5 open threads. System.Web.HttpException: The message could not be sent to the SMTP server. The transport error code was 0x800ccc67. The server response was 421 4.3.2 Too many open connections. ---> System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. ---> System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80040211): The message could not be sent to the SMTP server. The transport error code was 0x800ccc67. The server response was 421 4.3.2 Too many open connections. --- End of inner exception stack trace

Are you getting this with using the scheduler too, or only the send directly from the module?

Yes, I've only tried it with the new SMTP provider using the scheduler.

Any application built in DNN needs to have an email going functionality, for example, DNN sends an email to the user registers on the site/ portal. The other example includes, the forum module sends an email to the owner of the threads when a reply has post etc... and it is also necessary for the site host to send Newsletter email to all register user of the site/ application. Below are the steps to set up SMTP address in your DNN site/ application. 1. Login to the application with host account. 2. Click on "Host Settings" link under “Host” tab. 3. Set the "Host Details" panel as below The "Host Email" field must be modified as the email address corresponds to your SMTP settings. 4. Set the "SMTP Server Settings" panel as below Hope it did add some value. Thanks
