Hi everyone.... Another release around the corner and I wanted to post some notes before the release. First, you can test this release out already on www.betasprings.com (the module is loaded on the site, you still have to probably add it to a test page if you want to test it though). We are also running on it at www.datasprings.com so you can login to view a customized login page.

Previous versions of Dynamic Login have focused on key features to redirect the user depending on their username, their security roles, or based on a security role group to different pages (among many other features such as display a custom message to users in a certain role, a specific user, etc..).  The latest release continues to add to functionality within these areas but also adds many new enhancements to a number of requests that we often receive.... Just to cover a few of the basics...

  • Complete layout control - Now you can setup a custom template for your login page. This means that if you don't want to include the register link at all, or maybe the 'Remember Me' or 'Send Password Reminder' links you could simply remove them from the template. Or you could easily change the labels, or look of the fields. For example lets say you want put both the username textbox and password textbox on the same row? Each different implementation is different but the key here is that you have a full control of the login template using login [Tokens] that are then replaced at run time with specialized controls.
  • With new login tokens you can also choose to use Login Image Buttons instead of links buttons for your login page.
  • New feature to allow the user to be able to sign in with their email address
  • New feature to allow the user to be able to sign in with their UserID (the number, seperate from the username)
  • New feature to automatically bypass the role and user redirection rules and redirect the user to the previous URL.
  • New Single Sign On (SSO) functionality. This new enhancement allows for other portals within the DNN installation to be able to access the portal if the SSO feature is turned on and the user enters the login credentials correctly for the 'Master Portal'. Additionally there is an optional  'Reverse SSO' feature to automatically add the user to the master portal if they are signing into the  portal and that user doesn't exist within the master portal. Sound confusing? Its really not that confusing, if a User is registered on 'Portal A' and then attempts to log into 'Portal B' (which is using Dynamic Login with SSO enabled) the system will check their user credentials and if correct, will automatically add them as a valid user within Portal B. The system will also check the security roles for the user in 'Portal A' and add them to any matching security roles per name in 'Portal B'. For example lets say that a user attempts to login on Portal B which already exists within Portal A with the security roles, 'Registered Users', 'Subscribers', and 'West Coast'. If these same security roles exist (by security role name) within Portal B they will automatically be added to these security roles within Portal B.

The module is scheduled to be release on the 19th and is just pending further testing and documentation updates which are already in the works! Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Chad,

Was this new version ever released? I've never seen anything at Snowcovered under patches.

Rob,

Yes the 2.2 release was posted a few weeks back on Snowcovered (as a new release not a patch or hot fix). You should receive 70% off if you purchased the last version. If you are a member of the latest Data Springs Collection package it was also posted there in the main package downloads area.

Hi Chad,

I did buy the previous version (I worked with you on the role group concept). Anyway, I am not seeing a 70% discount. If I put it in my cart, it shows a 25% discount.

It would also be nice to be notified when you release new versions. Do you do that via your newsletter sign up?

Thanks,

Rob Ralston

Hi. Yes typically we would include this in our newsletter however we do not send out a newsletter with every module release/update. These are usually distributed in monthly or quarterly newsletters with all new module updates listed etc... You can usually check the announcements area or always see on Snowcovered our latest listings at:

Data Springs Latest Releases

This will always show the latest releases we have posted.

Hi Chad,

That latest release link is nice, but not sure how anyone would know about that.

Anyway, how do I get the 70% discount you mentioned?

Thanks,

Rob Ralston

Hi. What specific difficulties are you referring to? Is there another thread related to this topic?
