Hello,
I am getting a generic "webpage not found" error when I do an "all sites" search in sharepoint 2007.  This also happens when I try to access the "advanced search" link.  It does NOT happen however on the local site search.  Does anyone have any ideas?  Thanks,
Marty

Hmmm. In most of the search implementations I have seen this can happen if the 'Shared Services' isn't setup correctly. I know I ran into this problem before and it might have been related to the App Pool that the Shared Services server was running on.

Sure, if that doesn't work let me know and ill check our implementation to see any other settings that sound familiar.

I have looked at my application pools and found that in application pool/properties/asp.net/ they are all set for asp.net 2. should this not be set for asp.net 3? and if so, the pull down does not give me the option of 3...curious.

Hi,
Sorry for the delay. I've been really trying to figure this out. It appears that somehow, my SearchCenter/Pages site has been deleted. I have a development server that I just install sharepoint 2007 on and it has the searchcenter site. Is there a way that I can reconstruct this in my "problem" server?

Thanks,
Marty

Ikes... I don't know. Is that a site you can export / import?

In other words I know in 2007 you can export a site or site template and then import it into another site collection. Maybe you can take the working search center site and export it, then import it into the non working site. Or just delete the search site completely and then go create a new site that is a search directory site.

Hi, after a long time of soul searching I admitted that I didn't quite know what I was doing and reinstalled. This time however, I stumpled on a very simple installation recipe that did the trick:

Thanks for all your help though.

Marty
