Hi, as the the title of this topic suggests - I'm a newbie to Sharepoint but not to the ASP.net platform.

I'm working on a project where users can add news articles to a website. I've created a content type called NewsCT and have created the page layout for it. There's no problem with adding new pages. But what I'd really like is for the news pages to be added to a folder called 'News'. And for the breadcrumb navigation to displays this format: Home->News->Article Title

Now for my main question:

News stories need to be displayed on the main homepage. One article will be the TOP News story and the rest of the articles will be listed just below it. In ASP.net, I'd just use a datagrid to display the TOP news story and another datagrid to display the others.

How can I go about doing this in Sharepoint? I'm struggling to find information and am under pressure from the client to get this done

Would appreciate any help you can offer,

John

hi john,

As u said that u would do it by using datagrid why don't you go for custom webpart so that u can place the datagrid in the webpart,

I've been looking at web parts and they seem to be complex enough. Can you point me in the direction of any particularly good articles/tutorials?

Thanks for your reply!
