Hello all,

I have a question for which I have been unable to find a definitive answer.

I know that SharePoint affords you the ability to connect to external databases, and bring that data INTO your SharePoint environment for viewing.

But is there any tool/web part/.NET code, etc., that will let you access your data in SharePoint and send it out to an external database (i.e. not an Content Database, a custom database)? Or is data stuck in SharePoint once it's in there?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Are you referring to the BDC. You don't get the data into the SharePoint database but you can view it. It would be pretty easy to write scripts that moved data from SharePoint to an external database, but you would have to know when the move would happen.
i.e. when the data is entered on the screen (would be the easy way) or a batch move nightly (would have to know field names in SharePoint).
