Data Springs Modules Community Questions & Answers

Captcha Verification Still Not Working

I have a relatively simple form (name, e-mail, country, a combo box filling from a DNN list, and a captcha), no question events, and a simple SQL insert for a form completion event.

I've turned off Ajax and jquery (was preventing after-submit message from showing on 1st submit), made all of the required field error messages the same, but still captcha validation does not work properly.  If I check that it's a required field it always throws a validation error.

I tried to use the advanced captcha, but that is not displaying the captcha image in the browser at all (FF, Chrome or Safari, haven't checked IE).

It should not be this difficult!!  Had to throw up my hands and turn off captcha validation for now...

Running on DNN 5.6.1, Dyn. Forms 3.40.50.0.

Any suggestions welcome!

  • Such kind of errors related to recaptcha is common enough. So here is the complete guideline about resume genius that how we can easily overcome this issue in our lives. This verification is a good thing but they need to be clear about its implication.

Thanks for your feedback.. We do post common/most common issues on a specific forum thread along with common forums at the bottom of the user guide (the top 10-15 or so). It is difficult to keep up to be honest though as the list seems to change as IIS versions change, .NET frameworks, other modules, other versions of DNN, etc... So its not always as accurate as it could be which is frustrating. For issues that we get many reports on we do tend to post a blog post for that issue.

Thanks,

Chad

Ok,

1. Missed that step about the web.config changes - might be a good idea to include that note in the installation section of the user guide in addition to its current location. It kind of gets lost since it's on the next page. Advanced Captcha shows the image now.

2. Installation notes?? I followed the installation procedure in the user guide - silly me, I expected all the instructions to be in there! I added the doNotRewrite parameters and all is working now with the Advanced Captcha required.

As a suggestion for heading off questions like this from people like me - pin a post to the top of the Forum for this module where you can consolidate all of the installation issues in one place, and reference that in the manual. That way you don't have to revise the manual each time you discover some new twist, just update the forum post and keep it visible for all to see. Again, just a suggestion, but it might fend off some of these repeated queries.

Thanks for your great support (as usual)!!

Hmm... Ok, can you run a few other tests for me...

1. If you enable Advanced CAPTCHA, can you right click on the image that you say is not appearing (I am assuming you did make the web.config changes needed for that?). Can you right click on the image and choose 'Show image properties' to get the hyperlink its attempting to use?

2. Can you temporarily disable the URL Master for this specific page or another test page and tell me if the issue works, we might need to figure out if there is a conflict between two modules.

Since it would have been in our installation notes when you configure Advanced CAPTCHA I am guessing you already tried these steps?

I found this post too which has a few tips and might prove useful...

Hi Chad,

1. Yes, CAPTCHA works on other parts of the site including DNN Feedback module (which we want to replace with Dynamic Forms) and Dynamic Registration (or at least it seems to be working there).

2. Standard is relative since there have been variations on the URL rewriter. We are using URL Master, so our URL looks like: http://www.nursetogether.com/Home/Subscribe-to-our-Newsletter.aspx

Thanks,

hi,

A couple of quick questions... Can you tell me if:
1. CAPTCHA works on the standard DotNetNuke areas? Such as if you add CAPTCHA to the standard DNN Login module or Register area? Our module uses the same DNN CAPTCHA control so I am curious if its working in DNN but not our module since we don't really change the code much but just reference their control.

2. Can you tell me if your URL is a non standard URL? For example is it something like www.site.com/something or is it something more standard like www.site.com?

Thanks,

Chad
